AK-47 Spray Control & Spray Transfer Masterclass for CS2 Sub-Tick

The AK-47 is the undisputed king of Counter-Strike rifles. Offering one-tap headshot lethality through helmet armor at any distance, it is the weapon every player strives to master. However, CS2's sub-tick architecture and visual recoil animations require a highly disciplined approach to spray control and bursting mechanics.

This masterclass guide breaks down the exact recoil compensation curves, bursting rhythms, and spray transfer techniques used by rifle gods like NiKo, donk, b1t, and EliGE.

1. The AK-47 Recoil Pattern (The T-Shape)

Unlike casual shooters with randomized recoil, the AK-47 in CS2 follows a strict, repeatable 30-bullet spray pattern. Memorizing the inverse physical hand movement required to counteract this pattern is mandatory for securing multi-kills.

The Recoil Compensation Sequence:

  • Bullets 1 to 5: Pull your mouse straight down smoothly. These first five bullets are the most accurate and lethal.
  • Bullets 6 to 10: Transition your pull slightly to the left as the in-game barrel begins kicking to the right.
  • Bullets 11 to 20: Sweep your mouse smoothly to the right to counteract the weapon's sharp horizontal pull to the left.
  • Bullets 21 to 30: Pull back to the left for the final 10 bullets of the magazine.

2. Bursting vs. Tapping vs. Spraying

You cannot hold down left-click across the entire map and expect to get kills. You must adapt your firing mode based on exact engagement distances.

  1. Long Range (Pit to A Site on Dust2): Use 1-tap or 2-bullet bursts. Aim strictly for the head. Allow the weapon's recoil reset timer to fully recover between taps.
  2. Medium Range (Mirage Mid): Use crisp 3 to 5 bullet bursts while pulling down slightly. Aim at the head and let the recoil pull the remaining bullets into the upper chest.
  3. Close Range (Inferno Apartments): Commit to a full spray down. Pull down aggressively and track the enemy's movement with your crosshair.

3. Mastering the Spray Transfer

A spray transfer occurs when you kill one enemy with the first 5 bullets of your spray, then instantly flick your crosshair to a second enemy while keeping your left-click held down and continuing the recoil compensation curve.

  • Visualizing Tracer Rounds: In CS2, tracer rounds are highly visible. Use the visual stream of your tracers to guide your crosshair onto the secondary target during a transfer flick.
  • Recoil Crosshair Setting: If you are struggling to visualize where your bullets are landing mid-spray, enable cl_crosshair_recoil 1 in your console to make your crosshair physically follow the exact recoil impact point.

4. First-Bullet Accuracy & Reset Timers

The AK-47 is not 100% accurate at extreme distances (like Mirage T-Spawn to Window). Always take your initial shot from a stationary, fully counter-strafed position to maximize first-bullet hit registration.
