CS2 Competitive Matchmaking & Premier Mode Guide

CS2's Premier mode has redefined the competitive ranked ladder. Replacing the old skill groups with a numeric CS Rating (0 to 30,000+), the mode features map veto phases and global leaderboards.
In this guide, we discuss veto strategies and rating growth mechanics to help you climb the leaderboards.
1. Master the Veto Phase
The map ban phase before a match starts is critical. Analyze the maps your team is comfortable with and compare them against typical community preferences. While Mirage and Dust II are widely understood, drafting your team into map pools like Anubis or Ancient can grant you a major structural advantage if you've practiced coordinates.
2. Understanding Win/Loss Streak Multipliers
CS Rating utilizes streak modifiers. Winning 4-5 matches in a row triggers multiplier bonuses, boosting your rating gains per win from 100 up to 300+. Conversely, consecutive losses increase your rating loss penalty, making it wise to take a break after multiple losses.
